Thanks to MOH and Wedding Chicks, I redeamed myself!
Before I got engaged I had never evened opened up a wedding magazine, didn't even imagine what I would want in a wedding & I had never been part of a wedding so I had no idea of all the things that went into wedding planning, including but not limited to how to ask your bridesmaids. I figured you just asked them, plain & simple. But nope! I learned 3 months in that now a days brides ask in some special way, with a homemade card, or what not. When I learned about this, I felt bad I had not done anything special. Luckily for me, my MOH has my back! Unbeknownst to her when she blogged about the tshirts on the weddingchicks.com she gave me an idea of how I could redeem myself! I ordered each one a special t shirt with their name on it & with their favorite color. The Wedding Chicks shop has a cool feature for the t shirts that allows you to preview how the colors would look together, I spent way too much time figuring out the perfect combo for each lady but had a lot of fun doing it. Their shop as so many cool items, especially the canvas bags! love love love them! Amy from Wedding Chicks was such a sweetheart, she helped me out with my order and answered any questions I had right away. So here are all the shirts & bags. Unfortunately they did not have any men's shirts so I will have to find my bridesman/BFF a shirt somewhere else. I can't wait till we get an opportunity to wear the shirts out! They are very stylish, have a flattering fit and the cotton is so soft.

Tokens for bridesmaids
I still haven't decided what to give my bridesmaids & MOH and when I do I don't think I will be posting about it till after the wedding because you know who is a contributer to the bloggity blog. But I think it's safe to share with you some ideas for little gifts that I think would be cool to give them. In addition to the etched glasses, and the bridal survival kits , I am digging Mrs. Gloss's Bachelorette Party Pack
and these CD covers from the Style Me Pretty blog, yes yes I know those are actual invitations but I think they would be perfect for the CD I am going to make for the BM & GM of songs that will make them remember what a great time they had during this whole wedding process :-)

Decisions decisions...Bridesmaid dresses
Excerpts from bridesmaid dress shopping last Saturday....
First Stop:
First thing the sales person ask me is "what are your colors", then my eyes bulge out and I said "I don't know yet, but they may be yellow, or turqoise or grey"...After looking at dresses, I tell the sales lady "I've decided & want the dresses to be turquoise"! then she replies that the designer of the dress doesn't make it in turquoise. Ah!
Last Stop:
MOH tried on the bridesmaid dress, at David's Bridal and it did not look the way it does online, the material looked very cheap compared to the dresses she tried on at the other places, so we are back to the drawing board!
Lesson learned: If you are set on a particular color and shade, just know that certain designers may not have dresses in those colors and be ready to change the dress or color.

Who Needs Friends When You Have Craigslist?
I had to post this because I thought it was hilarious. The site recently created a "Best of Craigslist" section voted by readers. Awesome, right? Craigslist is more a form of entertainment for wackos now than it is about serious business, but I digress.I have to admit... I have a secret dream that some dashing fellow would write about me in missed encounters section - what a girl can dream right?! Woops, sorry I digressed again. Anyway...
Here's an idea: if you need some bridesmaids why not post an ad on craigslist? This girl did.

Bridesmaids' Dresses
Update: We are coming down to the wire for dress shopping. I'm crossing my fingers that our excursion to David's Bridal towards the end of the month will show that these dresses we're eyeballing (crossing fingers) are the ones. Call me a crazy (because I am) but I know these are the ones! I only believe in love at first sight when it comes to clothing and my heart skipped TWO beats when I saw these beauties.

Like U2 says..."I still haven't found what I'm looking for...
I've been engaged for 4 months and I still don't have a clear sense of the vision for the wedding, nor a venue or even colors, I have not even looked at wedding dresses. I know crazy right?! but there are reasons behind my madness. I had decided that I did not want to decide on anything until I found the venue, I knew it would be difficult to find one within budget and that met all our requirements but I had no idea that it would take this long and require so much research. I have googled all possibilities, looked through every single wedding site resource available, I've even looked through L.A photographers blogs looking at weddings they have shot, in hopes that I could find one that way....oh & in regards to those photo blogs as soon as I see pictures of the bride's Manolo Blanhkik or Jimmy Choo's heels, I know where ever that couple got married at, it is not within the budget!.
Honestly I feel lost, there are so many beautiful inspirations out there and I just can't decide what I want. Unlike some brides to be out there, I never dreamed of my wedding day, heck I did not even know if I was ever going to get married, not because I don't believe in it, but because I was set on not settling, on finding the person that met all my criteria and the one that I would love and never wonder if I made the right decision in marrying them. It was because I valued marriage so much that I was willing to live a life of solitude if I did not find "the one". In fact my parents pretty much had given up on me getting married and being the only girl in a latino household, they were not very happy about having to give up on the idea but they were supportive nonetheless. But I did find the "one" :-) & now I need a venue for our nuptials!
Now going back to this whole wedding vision, I am hoping that as soon as I find this holy grail venue, that things will just come together. I hope to soon share some actual wedding projects but until then here are some wedding inspirations I have saved over the past few months...

Although I have not looked for a dress, I know I want strapless and I may wear a flower in my hair for the reception and mi amor is thinking of wearing white tux (GRRR!)
I'm pretty sure I won't just have 2 colors, and that everything will not match exactly but that it will hopefull come together. My favorite color & mi amor's fav color is green, but I don't tend to have green things, I tend to like buying things in red, yellow, turquoise, pretty much vibrant colors. I like the way this wedding was able to mix the colors beautifully.
I now I also want my bridesmaid to wear strapless dresses and luckily my MOH/cousin and my sister in law have both expressed that they would like to wear strapless dresses, so it works out perfectly. I'm leaving the dress picking to my MOH/cousin, we have similar taste in dresses so I know whatever she picks out I will love, the only thing I am picking is the color. I'm leaning to yellow dresses but not sure how nice yellow ties will look on the groomsmen, but the other day when I was telling mi amor mi about this dilemma he said that he is sure we can find some good looking yellow ties, and him saying it makes me believe it :-). I love the way the yellow looks with the blues in this wedding. I'm also thinking I want to wear colored shoes. I *love* wearing colored shoes, in fact whenever I wear black dresses I wear either my red patent heels or my nude colored heels. But I am also open to wearing silver or gold heels, which are colors I tend to wear when I wear white.
You know writing this post has actually helped me with my vision, apparently it is coming together :-) Was it easy for you to decide on your vision for your wedding? What made you decide on your colors?
